In a bid to attract international investment, India’s Finance Ministry has decided to permit foreign funding from Non Resident Indians (NRIs) as of January 15th 2012, allowing them to buy shares in the Indian Stock market so as to increase capital stability and to re-introduce confidence in the Sensex (India’s index) which has fallen by 23%.
